Did you ever go looking for food and drink after a fight with your spouse? Or pamper yourself with some ice cream and chocolate after a hard day? Or spend the wrapped packet of chips because you do not know what to do any activity?

What happened to you is known as 'emotional eating'. That is, the conditions in which people eat not because of hunger. but for various other reasons like the fear of hunger, diversion of mind from unpleasant things, kill the boredom and loneliness.

"So, the driving factor for eating not because of hunger but because of the feeling of floating," said Varkha Chulani, clinical psychologist as quoted from the pages of the Times of India.

Dr Nupur Krishnan adds 'emotional eating' occurs when people have the desire to eat when emotionally unstable. In the long term, this habit can destroy confidence and health through excessive weight gain.

"The problem is not in the will, but the psychological and emotional needs, changes in body shape, thinking, addiction to the loss of emotional eating," he said.

People used to look for an escape for a moment forget that convolute the issue they like shopping, massage, sex, and eating well. They do not have a strategy and the confidence to solve problems so that they find comfort in food.

This also resulted in a person can not get out of this habit, like being in a vicious circle. Unwittingly, this habit makes the body stretched and even obesity. Disproportionate body shape just makes matters worse because of the perceived pressure will be greater and will further push to keep doing the 'emotional eating'.

Typically, when emotion, people will consume foods that do not contain many nutrients, but contain more sugars such as candy, pastries, ice cream, bread. It also increases blood sugar levels and stimulates the brain to release chemicals that drive hunger.

'Emotional eating' can lead to obesity, depression, insomnia, dementia, loss of muscle mass, osteoporosis, hair loss, low blood pressure, low heart rate, headaches, and even suicide.

If you are including people with these habits are advised not to use food as an escape. If this already, seek help from others to stop it.

Do not let your stomach empty for a long time, plan what to eat. If you can not stop to chew on, try to eat fruits and vegetables, avoid drinking coffee and sodas, avoid pastries. Better to eat the filling. Most importantly, try to eliminate your stress by listening to music, yoga, or meditation.
